Brad Pitt isn’t messaging you, rep warns, after fan loses life savings in romance scam
Brad Pitt's representative has issued a warning about impersonation scams after a French woman lost her life savings to fraudsters pretending to be the actor. The victim, aged 53, believed she was in a romantic relationship with Pitt and ended up divorcing her husband to send €830,000 (approximately US$850,000) to the scammers.
This case highlights the dangers of online scams that exploit fans' emotional connections with celebrities. The spokesperson for Pitt described it as "awful" that scammers manipulate such feelings for financial gain. They also emphasized the importance of being cautious with unsolicited online communications, especially from public figures who do not maintain a social media presence, like Pitt. The fraudsters reportedly created fake social media profiles and used AI-generated images to convince the victim that she was communicating with the actor, fabricating stories about his financial troubles related to his divorce from Angelina Jolie to extract money from her.
