Hong Kong’s Greater Bay Airlines to suspend Seoul route as woes mount

Greater Bay Airlines has announced the suspension of its Seoul route amid a significant flight cancellation crisis, admitting to “negligence” in its scheduling process after confirming 128 flight cancellations over the next two months. The airline, the smallest in the city, has apologized to affected passengers, assuring that flights during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday will remain unaffected.

The airline's difficulties stem from delays in new aircraft deliveries and the need for regular inspections of existing planes, which have disrupted its overall flight schedule. This has resulted in the cancellation of approximately 5,500 passenger flights, specifically 64 round trips in February and March 2025. In response, Greater Bay Airlines is proactively reaching out to passengers for rebooking or refunds, waiving all related fees and providing compensation for the cancellations. Additionally, the airline is enhancing its customer service operations to manage the increased demand for assistance.
