Chinese robot maker UBTech eyes mass production of industrial humanoids by year end
UBTech Robotics plans to mass produce its humanoid robots by the end of this year, aiming to deliver 500 to 1,000 units of its Walker S Series to various industrial clients. This move comes as the company seeks to bolster production in response to intense competition within China's rapidly evolving robotics industry.
Chief brand officer Michael Tam shared that the initial focus will be on industrial applications, catering to sectors like automotive, logistics, and technology with partners such as Foxconn and SF Express. Tam emphasized that factories present a more suitable environment for humanoid robots to operate, as they can address labor shortages effectively. He noted that while the ultimate goal is to integrate humanoid robots into everyday homes, current capabilities limit their usefulness in domestic settings, necessitating a focus on industrial use for the time being.
