China, Thailand capture suspect in Wang Xing telecoms scam case, send him to mainland

A key suspect involved in human trafficking and telecoms fraud, including the case of Chinese actor Wang Xing, has been arrested and extradited to China. The Ministry of Public Security announced the arrest of Yan Wenlei, who was captured with the cooperation of the Chinese embassy in Thailand and Thai law enforcement. Yan had been using social media to post recruitment ads for actors and models, luring them with promises of work in Thailand.

Yan's arrest follows a troubling incident involving Wang Xing, who was deceived by one of Yan's ads and found himself trapped in a Myanmar scam compound. Wang's case gained significant public attention after his girlfriend's social media plea, leading to his rescue and return to China. This incident highlights the growing concern over cross-border criminal activities, prompting Chinese authorities to intensify efforts to curb such crimes and protect citizens from similar deceptions.
