Chinese start-up Unitree sees humanoid robots in wide commercial use this decade

Unitree, a Chinese start-up known for its quadruped robot dogs, is set to advance into the humanoid robot market, anticipating significant commercial opportunities by 2026. The company's forecast hinges on the development of humanoid robots with enhanced perception, comprehension, and task-execution capabilities, expected to yield tangible applications within three to five years.

This ambitious outlook was showcased during the Spring Festival Gala, where 16 of Unitree's humanoid robots performed alongside human dancers in a demonstration billed as the world's first large-scale, fully AI-driven humanoid robot performance. This milestone reflects Unitree's rapid development in the humanoid robot sector over the past two years, amid growing competition from both domestic and international firms capitalizing on recent advancements in artificial intelligence. According to marketing director Huang Jiawei, the core of humanoid robots rests in their intelligence, which is key for their effectiveness and utility.
