Ex-professor convicted in Hong Kong yoga ball murder case files another appeal

Malaysian anaesthesiologist Khaw Kim Sun, jailed in Hong Kong for murdering his wife and daughter in 2015, has filed another appeal against his conviction. This marks his latest effort to overturn the ruling that he deliberately killed them using a yoga ball filled with carbon monoxide.

Khaw, a former university professor, was initially convicted in 2018 and sentenced to life imprisonment after a High Court jury found him guilty of causing the deaths of his wife and daughter. The two victims died from carbon monoxide poisoning after a leaky yoga ball filled with the lethal gas was placed in their car. While his initial conviction was quashed in 2023 due to a misdirection of the jury, he was again found guilty last month, prompting this new appeal.
