Chinese tech giant Tencent restructures AI product portfolio as competition heats up

Tencent Holdings is making significant changes to its AI product lineup, moving several key applications into its Cloud & Smart Industries Group (CSIG). This strategic shift aims to enhance Tencent's competitiveness in the rapidly evolving AI sector, allowing for better integration and monetization of its AI capabilities.

The reshuffle involves transferring apps like QQ Browser, Sogou Pinyin, and Ima from the Platform & Content Group to CSIG, following the earlier move of the AI chatbot Yuanbao. This reorganization reflects Tencent's renewed focus on product experience and user feedback, as it seeks to keep pace with rivals like Alibaba and Baidu, as well as emerging AI startups. The company confirmed the AI product portfolio reshuffle on Friday.
