Tan Ruisong, the former chairman and Communist Party secretary of AVIC, China's leading military aircraft maker, has been expelled from the party for allegedly accepting a "huge amount" of bribes and abusing his power for personal gain. The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) announced that Tan's case will be handed over to prosecutors following an investigation that began in August.
Tan is accused of accepting bribes and offering favors in areas such as enterprise restructuring, engineering project contracts, and employee recruitment. He also allegedly engaged in "power-for-sex transactions" and the "embezzlement of huge amounts of public properties." The CCDI statement noted that Tan's actions were severe and had a nefarious impact, continuing even after the 18th Party Congress in 2012, suggesting his illicit activities predated that time.
