China welcomes new search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 11 years after disappearance

China has expressed its support for the renewed search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared in 2014 with 239 people on board, including over 150 Chinese nationals. The Malaysian government has authorized a new search effort led by Ocean Infinity, a deep-sea exploration company that previously conducted an unsuccessful search in 2018.

The search will concentrate on four specific areas within a 15,000 sq km zone located approximately 1,500km west of Perth, Western Australia. A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman stated that China values Malaysia's dedication to finding the missing aircraft and is prepared to maintain close communication and cooperation to protect the rights and interests of the Chinese passengers' families.
