Young China hiker survives by eating toothpaste after lost in cold mountains for 10 days

An 18-year-old hiker, Sun Liang, was successfully rescued after being lost for 10 days in the Qinling mountains of northwestern China. He survived the ordeal, which began on February 8th, by drinking river water and melted snow, and even consuming toothpaste when food ran out.

Sun's solo hike turned perilous when his electronic devices died just two days into the trip, leaving him stranded. He fractured his arm after falling multiple times while trying to navigate downstream. He eventually found shelter behind a large rock, where he built a makeshift bed of straw and leaves until rescuers found him on February 17th in the mountainous region of Shaanxi province.
