Singer Katy Perry and Bezos’ fiancée to fly to space on Blue Origin rocket
Pop star Katy Perry will be part of an all-female crew of six on Blue Origin's next space flight this spring. The company announced the star-studded journey, which will also include journalist Lauren Sanchez, fiancée of Blue Origin owner Jeff Bezos, and CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King.
Blue Origin began launching wealthy tourists and celebrities into suborbital space in 2021 aboard its New Shepard rocket. The flights typically last 10-11 minutes, providing passengers with a few minutes of microgravity as the capsule surpasses the Karman line, the internationally recognized boundary of space. To date, the company has flown 52 people to space across 10 crewed missions from its Launch Site One in West Texas.
