‘Two sessions’ 2025: Hong Kong delegates to take hundreds of proposals to Beijing

Hundreds of Hong Kong politicians and business leaders are traveling to Beijing for the annual "two sessions" (CPPCC and NPC) meetings, where further integration with mainland China is expected to be a key topic. These meetings bring together China's power brokers to discuss and approve policy plans across various strategic areas, including the economy, military, and trade.

This year's sessions follow China achieving its 5% economic growth target for 2024, but also come amid escalating trade tensions with the United States. Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang and Xia Baolong will hold closed-door meetings with Hong Kong delegates. Unlike last year, where Hong Kong's national security law was a primary focus, economic development is anticipated to take center stage this year.
