From geek to chic: Japan PM stuns women’s fashion show with trendy new look

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba surprised attendees at the Tokyo Girls Collection fashion show by ditching his usual suit for a more stylish ensemble, signaling his support for a "cool" Japan. Ishiba's appearance in a double-breasted blazer, denim trousers, white sneakers, and black-rimmed glasses drew cheers from the audience and performers at the prestigious event held at Tokyo’s National Yoyogi Stadium First Gymnasium.

Ishiba, whose policy goals include revitalizing Japan, stated his support for efforts to create a "cute, energetic, and cool" image for the country. He hopes such events will become more widespread and even extend internationally. He was accompanied at the show by Myaku-Myaku, the mascot for the 2025 Osaka World Expo, further highlighting the effort to promote Japanese culture and innovation.
