Alibaba's new AI video-generating model, Wan 2.1, has become the most popular model on Hugging Face, a leading open-source AI community. The model, unveiled by Alibaba's cloud computing unit, is drawing significant attention from developers globally due to its performance, which rivals other top video generation models.
Wan 2.1 currently ranks as the top video-generation model on the VBench Leaderboard and is the only open-source model among the top five. Alibaba, which owns the South China Morning Post, is heavily investing in AI, allocating at least $52.4 billion over the next three years for computing resources and AI infrastructure. The company has open-sourced four variants of the model, allowing academics, researchers, and commercial institutions to freely use and modify them.
