Hong Kong slams new Trump tariff on Chinese imports, says ‘rectify wrongdoing’

Hong Kong has strongly condemned the United States' decision to impose a cumulative 20 per cent tariff on products from the city. The Hong Kong government views this action as a violation of World Trade Organization (WTO) rules and has expressed "strong disapproval" of the measure.

The tariff increase, announced by former US President Donald Trump, adds to a previous 10 per cent levy imposed last month. A Hong Kong government spokesman stated that the measure undermines the multilateral trading system and harms both parties' interests. The government plans to file a complaint with the WTO to defend its rights and urges the US to withdraw the tariffs.
