Singapore jails Australian man who stole cash from moneylender at knifepoint

An Australian man, Jose Manuel Pacheco, was sentenced to 16 months in jail in Singapore for stealing cash from a moneylender while armed with a knife. Pacheco pleaded guilty to theft, criminal intimidation, and criminal breach of trust after initially being charged with armed robbery.

On June 3, 2024, Pacheco entered Accredit's Tampines outlet wearing a mask and cap, and carrying a knife. He threatened a female employee, demanding she fill his bag with money. The employee, who was alone in the shop, complied with his demands.
