Chipmaker TSMC’s sales quicken in first 2 months of 2025 in upbeat note for AI

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) reported a 39% surge in revenue for the first two months of the year, indicating strong demand for AI chips, particularly those used by Nvidia. This growth surpasses the 34% increase seen throughout 2024, with analysts projecting continued growth of around 41% for the current quarter.

As the primary manufacturer of AI chips, TSMC's sales serve as a key indicator for the AI sector's overall health. While the AI boom has propelled companies like Nvidia to new heights, questions are emerging about its long-term sustainability, especially with the emergence of more efficient AI model development approaches. Despite some weakness in automotive and industrial demand reflected in 200mm wafer shipments, robust integrated circuit exports from Taiwan suggest that AI chip sales are significantly boosting TSMC's revenue.
