China’s UBTech debuts US$41,000 humanoid robot in race to build cheaper machines
UBTech Robotics has launched the Tien Kung Xingzhe, a life-size humanoid robot priced at $41,200, signaling China's push to produce affordable and advanced robotics ahead of Tesla's Optimus robot. Developed with the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Centre (X-Humanoid), the robot is available for pre-order and deliveries are slated to begin in the second quarter.
The 1.7-meter Tien Kung Xingzhe is an upgraded version designed for research applications requiring strength and stability. It can walk at 10km/hour and navigate varied terrains like slopes, stairs, and snow. While other humanoid robots are generally smaller, more expensive, or not mass-produced, UBTech's model aims to strike a balance between functionality and cost, competing with models like Unitree Robotics' H1 (priced at $90,000) and EngineAI's PM01 (smaller at 1.38m and priced at $12,000 until the end of March).
