Chinese scientists create world’s first 3D-printed male sex organ for ED treatment

Chinese researchers have achieved a breakthrough in treating erectile dysfunction (ED) using 3D-printed penile implants. The innovative implant system, created with hydrogel-based bioinks, mimics the natural erectile tissue and has shown promising results in animal trials.

The study, published in Nature Biomedical Engineering, demonstrated that all animal models (pigs and rabbits) receiving the implant experienced a full restoration of erectile function. Reproductive success rates increased dramatically from 25% in the control group to 100% in the treatment group, indicating a significant improvement. This advancement offers a potential therapeutic solution for the surprisingly common condition of ED, which affects over 40% of men aged 40 and above.
