Suspected killer of Japanese live-streamer wanted world to know she owed him US$13,000
Kenichi Takano, a 42-year-old man arrested for fatally stabbing 22-year-old Airi Sato in Tokyo, reportedly told investigators he wanted the world to know she had failed to repay debts to him. Takano claimed Sato owed him over 2 million yen (US$13,000) and believed that creating an incident and subsequent trial would expose her actions.
Takano stated he had borrowed 1 million yen from consumer credit companies to lend to Sato. Police seized multiple bank transfer receipts, some showing payments to Sato, during a search of his home. According to sources, Takano attacked Sato without warning, inflicting over 30 injuries, including fatal wounds to her neck and chest, while she was live streaming in Shinjuku.
