AI training for Hong Kong pupils as tech giant Tencent launches academy

Tencent has launched the WeTech Academy in Hong Kong to provide AI and programming training to tens of thousands of local students. The academy aims to support Hong Kong's shift towards a technology-driven economy and align with national strategic goals by offering diverse learning opportunities.

The WeTech Academy will collaborate with local schools, welfare groups, and businesses to provide young people with practical experience. Tencent plans to offer WeChat mini-program development tools, educational resources, and online tech courses. According to Tencent senior executive Dowson Tong, the program will inspire youth to enhance their innovation and apply technological skills to meet societal demands.
